Top Cats

A rockabilly band who have competed in the Swedish Song Contest and played for Crown Princess Victoria.

The band Top Cats from Torsby, with lead singer Jon Kleppenes, have been around for more than ten years and are seen often on Swedish television. Following the Swedish documentary film "Raggarliv" they have been on several television shows, but it was taking part in the 2012 Swedish Song Contest that really boosted their carreers. They song "Baby Doll". They have since played in some of Sweden's largest arenas including Skandinavium in Gothenburg and Globen in Stockholm.

"We've had some fantastic experiences even though we've not yet been on Skavlan's talk show. And it's a shame we hav'nt been invited to any of the "Allsång på Skansen" song shows in Stockholm", says the lead singer, Jon Kleppenes.

Nowadays they also have Christmas songs in their reportoire. After their first two albums, "No more Heartache" and "Smashing to the ground", they plan on releasing a third in the spring.

Although the band's five members live in different places, it is in Torsby that they meet up and practice. Alongside his interest in music Jon Kleppenes also keeps himself in good physical condition so that he can manage the long and tiring hours, and too little sleep, that playing in a band entails. At the moment he has his sight set on this year's Vasaloppet, and annual long distance cross-country skiing event.

"In Torsby I can practice in the ski tunnel and at Valberget", he says.
